Living & Learning East Coast

The Baltimore Urban Study Center allows students to access and learn from communities in Washington D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. We provide opportunities for students to live in community, engage the challenges of the world, and learn to respond with a biblical Christian worldview.

Living & Learning East Coast is a program of Living & Learning International.

Who You Are

Qualifications 

  • Actively growing as an emotionally mature Christ-follower 

  • 1 to 2 years of Student or Resident Life experience preferred 

  • Capacity to operate in group settings for long periods of time 

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; however, this RA position is open for current college students

  • 2 years of urban ministry or cross-cultural experience strongly preferred 

  • Proficient with Google Workspace or willingness to learn 

What the Job Position Is

Team Member 

  • Maintain regular communication with the Program Director, Internship Coordinator, and other staff members. 

  • Provide an example of a Christ-follower to students through actions, attitude, and words. 

  • Serve in a residence life support role by providing assistance for matters related to programming and student life as needed. 

Support for Student Needs 

  • Live on campus in order to facilitate healthy and exciting community life with students. 

  • Maintain awareness of program schedule, and maintain communication with students. 

  • Report maintenance needs to the Program Director, and help maintain campus cleanliness. 

  • Assist in check-in & check-out processes, inventory, as well as incident reports. 

  • Be willing to assist as needed as a part of the BUS Crisis Management Plan. 

  • Assist in the maintenance of supplies (first-aid kits) with Campus Coordinator. 

Assist in the Discipleship of Students 

  • Communicate any challenges or conflicts among students to the BUS Team. 

  • Be available, approachable, and encourage students’ behavior, attitude, actions and words. 

  • Communicate issues that violate or could potentially violate the Living Above Reproach contract.

  • Report any violations to the BUS Team within 24 hours of any incident. 

  • Come alongside students as they integrate what they are learning into their lives. 

Compensation and Fundraising

Resident Coordinators will personally fundraise $1,200 while L&L East Coast will provide coverage of the remaining items.

  • Program activities and excursions

  • Groceries and program meals provided

  • Opportunity to participate in a summer internship in the city, with the understanding that the priority is serving as a Resident Coordinator.
