Who We Are

Living & Learning East Coast is a part of Living & Learning International (L&LI). Living & Learning International is a faith-based study abroad organization that provides academically excellent global programs where students live in community, engage the challenges of the world, and learn to respond with a Christ centered worldview. We work with 50+ institutions across the United States in semester, summer, and short-term study abroad programs. The Baltimore Urban Study Center allows students to access and learn from communities in Washington D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. We provide opportunities for students to live in community, engage the challenges of the world, and learn to respond with a biblical Christian worldview.

  • The position is full-time, in person in Baltimore, Maryland.

Who You Are

  • Reflective follower of Jesus willing to process faith and spirituality with authenticity

  • Proficient with Google Workspace or ability to learn Google Workspace  

  • 1 to 2 years of Student Life or Resident Life experience 

  • Bachelor's Degree required and Master’s degree preferred 

  • 2 to 3 years of urban ministry or multicultural experience preferred 

What the Position Is

Coordinate Student Activities 

  • Provide vision and leadership for residential life and Christ-centered multi-cultural community at the Baltimore Urban Study center (game nights, movie nights, craft ideas, community events, etc).

  • Work with the East Coast team to envision, plan, and facilitate fun and meaningful activities in Baltimore, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington DC that will foster healthy community and belonging for students! 

  • Partner with other RC to coordinate weekly and weekend activities in Baltimore and DC for students including fun events, excursions, grocery shopping, and Sunday worship opportunities.

Point Person for Student Needs 

  • Provide an example of a Christ-follower to students through actions, attitude, and words. 

  • Live on campus alongside students in a private room with access to shared office space. 

  • Maintain awareness of semester calendar & schedule, and communicate to students both in-person and via email/social media about activities and events.

  • Maintain attention to the property, including but not limited to paying bills, keeping receipts, reporting maintenance needs to the admin assistant, completing an apartment inventory, and maintaining overall cleanliness, health, & comfort of the student housing.

  • Complete check-in & check-out processes accordingly, as well as incident reports.

  • Report maintenance needs to the Program Director, and help maintain campus cleanliness. 

  • Complete check-in & check-out processes, inventory, and assist in documenting incident reports. 

  • Act as the point person for all student questions related to health concerns, questions, and/or issues.

  • Stock, maintain, and carry first-aid kits, supplies, and first-aid backpack

  • Attend staff meetings weekly. 

  • Maintain student health and respond to health concerns, vaccination, and clinic needs, alongside the Director of Student Life.

  • Complete 4-6 office hours per week through assigned department role .

Disciple Students 

  • Live out a dynamic and contagious walk with Jesus among LLI students.

  • Be an incarnational, available and approachable example to students .

  • Mediate challenges and conflicts among students, in collaboration with the Program Director. 

  • Be available, approachable, and encourage students’ behavior, attitude, actions and words. 

  • Respond directly to issues, concerns, rumors, and/or actions that violate or could lead to violation of the Living Above Reproach (LAR) contract.

  • Report any violations to the Program Director within 24 hours of any incident. 

  • Plan and lead intentional weekly small group meetings and individual meetings with students. 

  • Assist in mentoring students as they integrate what they are learning into their lives. 

  • Partner with faculty and staff to provide spiritual and academic support for students. 

  • Advocate for professors, including the Director of Education.

  • Budget and account for all funds given for discipleship meetings, and provide a financial report to the in-country director at the end of the month.

  • Plan and lead bi-weekly discipleship meetings with students.

  • Assist students in understanding the application of all they are learning.

  • Uphold and encourage students’ behavior, words & actions.

Compensation and Fundraising

Resident Coordinators will personally fundraise $1,200 while L&L East Coast will provide coverage of the remaining items.

  • Opportunity to participate in a summer internship in the city, with the understanding that the priority is serving as a Resident Coordinator.
